Thursday's Class
Last week's discussions really helped me to start to better understand what it means to be an effective teacher of science. I am realizing more and more how important it is to be able to not only understand the standards and goals for students but to utilize them in teaching and student reflection. It was neat to start to see how everything connects and to be able to come to that conclusion on our own when discussing and going over the magic trick and why it was a good learning experience. I am beginning to feel that with the way class is composed and the extent to which we have no visible agenda, we are forced to go deeper with our learning and understanding because we are being held to such high expectations. This is something that I am excited about, just knowing the great things that I will be able to take away from this class at the end of the semester when it feels like I've already gained a lot this far into it.

First Impressions
This semester seems like it will be full of new experiences as far as teaching science goes. I have never taught a science lesson or learned about ways to teach science so I am pretty excited to learn new things. I am nervous about the video-recording of a lesson we will teach and getting in all of my practicum hours but very excited at the same time to finally get some experience in subjects other than reading! I like that class can't be expected and deciphered before hand because it will make it more engaging and meaningful when we have to focus and participate to comprehend and actually learn what is going on.
